Welcome to the future of Marketing, Folks! As we are thrown straight into 2025, the web is evolving by the minute. Keeping up to date with web design trends and marketing trends can feel like a full-time job sometimes, but it is so important to be on your game when it comes to web trends! In this insight, we will discuss the Top 5 Trends for 2025 that you need to know and share some tips on how to keep updated with marketing trends without losing your mind. Let’s get our shift together!

Top Web Trends for 2025

Minimalistic layouts

This is one trend that you may notice we also included in our marketing trends for last year. User experience is still more important than ever and straightforward menus and navigation on a simple yet effective design create a calm and efficient experience for your customers. With attention span shortening, help your users find what they are looking for quickly.

Increased accessibility and inclusivity

This is something we began discussing a fair bit in 2024. We met with Catherine Grinyer- Founder of Attendable to discuss making the web-accessible. You can watch the full video here: Building an Accessible web

This year however, inclusive and accessible web will move beyond mere compliance with regulations like the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) into a more holistic approach that genuinely prioritises user experience for everyone. This shift will focus on creating digital spaces that are not just accessible but welcoming and usable for all individuals. From Advanced Assistive technologies to personalised accessibility settings and inclusive content, make sure you are up to date with all things accessibility.

Sustainable design

This year ‘Sustainable web’ is going to be more than just a buzzword; it will be a necessity. As we all become more conscious of sustainability and our environmental impact, the focus will shift towards reducing the carbon footprint of our online activities. From Lightweight Frameworks, Optimised images and Green hosting, it is all about making responsible choices that benefit both the environment and the user experience.

Data Transparency

With growing awareness of data privacy issues and increased regulatory scrutiny, transparent policies will foster trust in users and stay on the right side of these laws. This push for data transparency also aligns with a broader societal shift towards ethical business practices. If you are leading with transparency first you are contributing to setting a higher industry standard.

Micro-interactions

Micro-interactions are those tiny, almost imperceptible moments in digital design that enhance user engagement and provide feedback. Although subtle they can make a big difference. These interactive elements have been on the rise for years now and can be found on most websites, however, well-designed micro-interactions can infuse a brand’s personality into every user touchpoint. Whether it’s a playful bounce when you complete a task or a gentle fade when you dismiss a notification, the details, quality and thought behind the interaction matter.

How to keep up to date with changing marketing trends

Even being in the marketing industry, we get it! Staying on top of the latest marketing trends can feel like chasing a moving target. However, with the right strategies, you can stay ahead of the curve and ensure your campaigns remain fresh and effective. Here are a few of our tips:

Follow industry leaders

One of the quickest ways to stay updated is to follow thought leaders and innovators in the marketing world. These individuals are often the first to share insights, trends and strategies.

Platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram and X are fantastic for keeping tabs on their latest ideas and updates.

Subscribe to newsletters

Newsletters are a goldmine of curated content delivered straight to your inbox, making it easy to stay informed without endless scrolling. Here are a few of my personal favourites:

Lia Haberman’s ICYMI- A fantastic roundup of what’s happening in the digital marketing world, perfect for catching up on trends you might have missed.

Tom’s Marketing Ideas– Packed with practical tips and fresh ideas that can be applied to your strategies.

Growth Daily- A daily dose of growth marketing insights, ensuring you never fall behind on what’s working in the industry.

Listen to podcasts

Podcasts are a convenient way to absorb information while on the go! Whether you are commuting, at the gym, or simply relaxing tuning into a good marketing podcast can provide valuable insights. However, we understand that sometimes there isn’t the time to listen to them all and make notes! If your podcast is on YouTube, you can copy and paste the link into ChatGPT and ask for a roundup of insights. For those who digest information through articles, this is a great way to make sure you aren’t missing anything!

Here are a few podcasts that we would recommend:

‘Have you herd’: A social media podcast by The Social Shepherd that delves into the latest trends and strategies in social media marketing. It’s engaging and packed with practical advice for marketers at all levels.

‘Everybody hates marketers’: A podcast by Louis Grenier that is a no-nonsense, straight-talking marketing podcast that aims to cut through the noise and fluff often found in the marketing world.

Utilise social media

Platforms such as LinkedIn and Instagram and gaining traction in the business community. By following relevant hashtags such as #DigitalMarketing #ContentStrategy or #SocialMediaTrends, you can see what’s currently gaining traction in the industry. Engaging with these communities by commenting, sharing insights and participating in discussions can also help you stay informed and build valuable connections.

BUT… It is also so important to remember not every trend will be a perfect fit for your business. Sometimes a trend just doesn’t align with your brand strategy- and that is completely okay! It’s better to stay true to your brand’s identity than to chase every passing fad. The key is to stay flexible, keep learning, and adopt what truly aligns with your goals and audience. So, take what works for you, leave the rest, and let your brand shine in its unique way amidst the ever-changing digital world.
